Bio - Ria Persad
Ria Persad was born on June 18, 1974, in Trinidad and Tobago of mixed Indian and Japanese lineage, educated in America (Harvard, Princeton) and the UK (Cambridge), now living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From serving as an expedition scientist in climate and biodiversity, her art reflects the beauty of the continents and oceans, with themes of conservation, harmony with nature, Divinity, and Zen philosophy.
Ria was trained in ceramics since the age of 9, now specializing in the Figura style of figurative sculpting applied to anatomical scale models of animals. Ria is also a concert pianist (winner of the 2010 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition) who has given performances at Carnegie Hall and worldwide and has served as Ms. America Southern States, Ms. Trinidad and Tobago, and grand finalist in the 2018 Ms. Universe pageant.
